Use this guide when the Avatar Goggles X cannot operate normally after startup or exhibits abnormal behavior.
After power-on, the goggles may fail to start correctly or may freeze, display a black screen, restart, or exhibit other abnormal behavior when connecting to the air unit.
This issue occurs most often when the goggles are powered by a 2S battery, 18650 cells, or an underpowered AC adapter.
Use a 3S–6S battery or a 12–25 V power source to ensure that the goggles receive sufficient power.
The goggles start normally and display the system interface, but the screens turn off after approximately two seconds.
Press a button and check whether the buzzer responds. If bringing an object close to the infrared proximity sensor turns the screens back on, the automatic screen-off function is operating normally.
Put on the goggles or cover the proximity sensor to keep the displays active.
If the sensor works only when pressed or covered at very close range, but does not detect the user during normal wear, it must be calibrated.
While the goggles are powered on, press and hold the Up direction on the five-way joystick for three seconds. The displays will turn on and show the calibration window.
After the goggles are powered on, pressing any button produces no response, and the buzzer does not sound.
Press and hold the Back button for three seconds to switch operating modes. A buzzer tone indicates that the mode has been switched successfully.
The Goggles X support multiple operating modes. A black screen may indicate that the goggles are currently in HDMI Mode.
The goggles retain the previously selected operating mode after being restarted. Switch to the correct mode to restore normal operation.

During startup, the buzzer sounds one long tone followed by one short tone.
Disconnect the HDMI cable and remove the microSD card, then try powering on the goggles again.
This alarm indicates that the system has detected a possible fault with a connected external device.
Check the connected HDMI equipment and cable for short circuits or other faults.
If the goggles operate normally after only the microSD card is removed, format the card or replace it with a genuine U3-rated microSD card.
After insufficient power and incorrect operating mode have been ruled out, the goggles still display corrupted images, a red screen, blue screen, white screen, black screen, frozen image, or other abnormal behavior during startup.
