- Use this method when the built-in recording function does not meet your needs or when you need to livestream the FPV video.
¶ What You Need
- A high-quality capture card
- A computer
- A receiver unit that supports HDMI output, such as the Avatar VRX or Avatar Goggles X
- A Mini HDMI to standard HDMI adapter
¶ Procedure
¶ Step 1: Purchase a Capture Card
- Purchase a high-quality capture card.
¶ Step 2: Connect the Capture Card
- Connect the HDMI output of the receiver unit to the capture card, then connect the capture card to a USB port on the computer.
- Note that some capture cards require USB 3.0 and 5V/2A power to operate at 1080p. Otherwise, they may only operate at lower resolutions.
¶ Step 3: Configure the Menu Settings
- After the receiver unit is connected to the air unit, set the Frame Rate Mode to Standard in the menu.
¶ Step 4: Use Streaming Software
- Use streaming software such as
OBSto capture the video feed from the capture card.

- If you do not want system OSD elements to appear in the livestream, disable both System Icons and Custom OSD in the settings, as shown below.
¶ Important Notes
Most capture cards do not support High Frame Rate Mode at 100/120 fps. After the receiver unit is connected to the air unit, set the system to Standard Frame Rate Mode.
When livestreaming through HDMI, the image displayed in the goggles will be identical to the livestream output. It is not possible to display a clean flight view in the goggles while hiding the system OSD elements only from the HDMI output.
If the air unit is not installed on an aircraft, use an external fan to cool it. Without adequate airflow, the air unit may quickly overheat and shut down.

Q. Why do I need a capture card?
A. Computers generally cannot accept an HDMI video signal directly as a video input for software. A capture card is required to convert the HDMI signal into a video source that the computer can recognize.

A. Capture cards are generally compatible with standard HDMI video sources, but pay attention to the supported resolution and frame rate.
Q. Why does the Avatar Goggles X video keep disconnecting during livestreaming?
A. This may be caused by a low-quality HDMI cable or dimensional tolerances in the HDMI connector.
Use a high-quality HDMI cable or HDMI adapter to improve connection reliability.
