- A firmware update is attempted, but the device reports an error and cannot complete the update.
¶ Preparations
¶ Required Items
- One computer
- Gimbal Upgrade Module
- One USB Type-A to Type-C data cable
¶ Troubleshooting Steps
¶ Case 1: Insufficient Power Supply
- Stable operation requires sufficient power. Make sure the gimbal is supplied with adequate power. A 12V 2A BEC is recommended.
¶ Case 2: PC Tool Version Is Too Old
- If you are using a
CADDX GM V2series gimbal, use the latest version ofCADDX PC Tool.
¶ Case 3: Incorrect Firmware File
CADDX GM V2series gimbals use model-specific firmware files. This means thatGM1 V2andGM3 V2use different firmware files. Make sure to select the correct file when updating.- Example: GM3 V2 firmware is named
CADDX_GM3_FW_V*.*.**.bin, while GM1 V2 firmware is namedCADDX_GM1_FW_V*.*.**.bin. - Since September 2026, safeguards have been added to both the firmware and
PC Toolto help prevent incorrect firmware from being installed.
¶ Case 4: Poor Cable Connection
- The software reports that the update failed and there is no response for more than 30 seconds.
- This issue is usually caused by a loose or poor connection in the 3-pin cable between the upgrade module and the gimbal.
- Check the connection and try replacing the 3-pin cable with a new one.
¶ Recovery After Failed Firmware Update
- If a GM V2 firmware update fails due to an abnormal condition such as power loss or poor cable contact, and the gimbal can no longer start normally, follow the steps below.
¶ Step 1
- With the GM V2 gimbal powered off, connect the gimbal to
CADDX PC Toolthrough the upgrade module. After connecting to PC Tool, the following interface will appear:
¶ Step 2
- Wait approximately 20 seconds. The device will automatically enter Boot Mode, and the interface will change as shown below:
¶ Step 3
- Click Connect, then load the correct Gimbal Firmware File.
- Example: GM3 V2 firmware is named
CADDX_GM3_FW_V*.*.**.bin, while GM1 V2 firmware is namedCADDX_GM1_FW_V*.*.**.bin.
¶ Step 4
- Connect power to the gimbal, then click
Start Update. Wait until the progress bar completes and the firmware update is successful. - During the update, do not restart the device, disconnect the power, unplug the USB cable, or interrupt the connection.
¶ Notes
If the air unit is also powered on during the update, make sure adequate cooling is provided.
