¶ Ascent HD VRX PRO
- This document uses the
Ascent VRX PROas an example. The product in your possession may differ slightly, and some functions are only available on certain products.
¶ Main Interface
- 1 - Air Unit Input Voltage:
Displays the air unit input voltage. The system auto detects 2S, 3S, 4S, and 6S LiPo batteries based on a per-cell voltage range of 3.5–4.2 V. If the voltage of any cell drops below 3.5 V, the voltage is displayed in red as a warning. - 2 - Receiver Unit Input Voltage:
Auto detects 2S, 3S, 4S, and 6S LiPo batteries. If the voltage of any cell drops below 3.5 V, the receiver unit input voltage is displayed in red and the buzzer sounds an alarm.
When using a 5S LiPo battery, the system may identify it as a 6S battery with low voltage and trigger an alarm. - 3 - Real-Time Bitrate:
Displays the real-time transmission bitrate in Mbps. Currently, this is only available in the 25 Mbps standard bitrate mode.
How Bitrate Works - 4 - System Latency:
Displays the total latency from image capture by the air unit camera to reception by the receiver unit. - 5 - Distance Measurement:
Calculates the transmission distance between the receiver unit and air unit based on wireless transmission latency. Signal interference may increase the measurement error. - 6 - Status Notifications:
Displays status information and various system warnings that require attention. - 7 - Current Channel:
Displays the currently selected channel. Signal strength has five levels: 4 bars, 3 bars, 2 bars, 1 bar, and empty. - 8 - Radio Controller Signal Status:
Signal strength has five levels: 4 bars, 3 bars, 2 bars, 1 bar, and empty. This icon is hidden when the system does not detect a radio controller signal. - 9 - Receiver Unit SD Card Status:
Displays the VRX microSD card status and remaining storage capacity. A red circle flashes while recording. The red circle is not displayed when recording is stopped.[NO SD]is displayed when no microSD card is detected, and[-]is displayed when the card is full.
¶ System Menu - Channel
- 1 - Channel:
Displays the interference level of each channel. Signal strength is shown as 4 bars, 3 bars, 2 bars, 1 bar, or empty. An empty signal indicator means the channel is occupied and cannot be selected. The white outline indicates the selection cursor. Press the confirm button to select an item, and the highlighted item indicates the currently selected channel. - 2 - Frequency Hopping:
When Frequency Hopping is enabled, the VRX auto selects a channel with less interference. Manual channel switching is unavailable while this function is enabled. - 3 - Refresh:
Select Refresh to rescan the interference level and status of each channel.
¶ System Menu - Settings
When no air unit is connected, some settings may be grayed out. Settings may also be unavailable if the currently connected device does not support the corresponding function.
- 1 - Camera:
Camera settings include Scene Preset, Exposure, Saturation, Sharpness, Contrast, White Balance, Rotation, Aspect Ratio, and 3D Noise Reduction. - 2 - Display:
Display settings include Debug, Screen Brightness, Focus Mode, Custom OSD, OSD Position, Font Update, Custom Font, Framing Guide, Framing Guide Settings, and Goggles Icon. - 3 - Recording:
Recording settings include air unit recording resolution, recording device, Auto Start/Stop, Loop Recording, Format SD Card, Format Air Unit, Recording Time, and Auto Recording Stop Delay. - 4 - Device:
Device settings include Buzzer Volume, Distance Measurement Mode, Signal Loss Warning, Factory Reset, Reset Air Unit Defaults, Device Information, Operation Instructions, VRX Recording Bitrate, Anti-Flicker, VRX UART, Antenna, and UVC. - 5 - Transmit Power:
Adjusts the transmit power of the VTX and VRX. - 6 - Resolution:
Select between 720p and 1080p. - 7 - Bandwidth:
Select between 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 20 MHz, and Auto bandwidth modes. In general, a narrower bandwidth provides stronger interference resistance but a lower bitrate, while a wider bandwidth provides a higher bitrate but weaker interference resistance. - 8 - Frame Rate:
This function can significantly reduce system transmission latency. However, the external display must support a high frame rate; otherwise, no image will be displayed.
Switching to 50/100 fps can also help resolve LED light flickering issues.
If the connected display does not support a high frame rate, press and hold the Back button for 8 seconds to switch the HDMI output to 720p60. - 9 - Standby Mode:
When Standby Mode is active, the air unit and VRX transmit power is reduced to 10 dBm. Exiting Standby Mode or disabling it restores the currently configured transmit power. When Standby Mode is enabled, the air unit UART must be correctly connected to the flight controller. When the VRX receives a Drone ARM signal, the system auto exits Standby Mode. If no flight controller is used, this function can be disabled. - 10 - Language:
Switch between English and Chinese. - 11 - Battery Warning:
Monitors the VRX battery voltage. When the voltage is too low, the voltage is displayed in red and the buzzer sounds an alarm. This function can be enabled or disabled. - 12 - Preference:
Provides preset operating modes for the FPV system. Select Low Latency Mode or Fixed-Wing Mode.
¶ System Menu - Settings - Camera
- 1 - Scene:
Provides preset scene options, including Standard and Race. - 2 - Exposure:
Adjusts camera exposure. - 3 - Saturation:
Adjusts camera saturation to make colors more vivid or more subdued. - 4 - Sharpness:
Adjusts camera sharpness to make image edges clearer. - 5 - White Balance:
Adjusts camera white balance. Select Auto or manually adjust from 4000–7000. - 6 - Rotation:
Adjusts camera image rotation. Select Normal or 180° rotation. - 7 - Aspect Ratio:
Changes the aspect ratio of the displayed image and HDMI output. Select 16:9 or 4:3. - 8 - 3D Noise Reduction:
Reduces image noise during camera operation. Setting this value too high may cause motion smearing or ghosting.
¶ System Menu - Settings - Display
- 1 - Debug:
This function cannot be enabled by default.
When enabled, key system information is displayed on the screen for troubleshooting. The.srtsubtitle file generated with receiver unit recordings will also be replaced with Debug information. - 2 - Brightness:
Adjusts the display brightness of the receiver unit. VRX modules cannot adjust the brightness of an external display. - 3 - Focus Mode:
When enabled, the system prioritizes image clarity in the center of the screen under weak signal conditions. The areas on both sides of the image are reduced to a mosaic-like quality to maximize available bandwidth for the center of the image. - 4 - Custom OSD:
The default setting is Auto. The system auto detects the flight controller firmware connected to the air unit and selects the corresponding OSD font. Currently supported flight controller firmware includes Betaflight, INAV, ArduPilot, KISS, FETtec, and QUICKSILVER.
OSD fonts for these flight controller systems are already built into the system and do not need to be imported manually.
If you are not satisfied with the default OSD font, you can manually import a custom OSD font. - 5 - OSD Position:
For older flight controller firmware that does not support HD OSD, or for custom-developed flight controller firmware that only supports 480p analog OSD, this option allows the overall OSD position to be adjusted manually.
If you are using one of the common flight controller firmware systems listed above, this option can generally be ignored because they already support HD OSD. - 6 - Font Update:
Used to import OSD fonts. - 7 - Custom Font:
Allows selection of successfully imported custom fonts. This option is unavailable by default.
Custom font files are stored on the microSD card. Removing or formatting the microSD card will delete the custom OSD fonts, and the system will auto return to the default font. - 8 - Framing Guide:
Enables the framing guide. This is intended to help align the field of view of an action camera with the FPV camera so that both cameras capture the same target. - 9 - Framing Guide Settings:
Adjusts the position of the framing guide on the screen. - 10 - Goggles Icon:
Changes the system UI icon to suit different flying scenarios. - 11 - Proximity Sensor:
Detects whether the user is wearing the goggles and auto turns the displays on or off.
¶ System Menu - Settings - Recording
- 1 - Air Unit:
Adjusts the recording resolution and frame rate of the air unit.
The 2.5K option is only available when using theLynxair unit. If-is displayed, the currently connected air unit does not support recording. - 2 - Recording Device:
Selects the recording device. The air unit and receiver unit can record simultaneously, or either device can record independently. - 3 - Auto Start/Stop:
When the air unit is connected to the flight controller, recording starts automatically when the Drone is armed and pauses automatically when the Drone is disarmed, after which the recording file is saved.
Disconnecting power before the recording is properly stopped may damage the recording file. Stop recording manually before disconnecting power. - 4 - Loop Recording:
Continuously records video. When storage is full, the oldest files are deleted automatically to allow recording to continue. - 5 - Format SD Card:
Formats the microSD card in the receiver unit. - 6 - Format Air Unit:
Formats the internal storage or microSD card of the air unit. - 7 - Recording Time:
Select the recording file duration: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or Unlimited.
This setting controls how recordings are split into individual files. It does not stop recording after 5, 10, or 30 minutes. - 8 - Auto Recording Stop Delay:
Delays the end of recording after a stop-recording command is received. This is commonly used to retain additional flight data or help locate the crash site after a crash. - 9 - OSD Recording:
This function is only supported byAscent VRX PROandAscent Cine VRX. It directly overlays OSD data from the flight controller onto the recorded video without requiring post-processing on a computer.
This setting also affects OSD display when using the UVC function. - 10 - Audio:
This function requires support from the air unit and is used for real-time audio transmission and audio recording.
¶ System Menu - Settings - Device
- 1 - Buzzer:
Adjusts the buzzer volume of the receiver unit. - 2 - Distance Measurement Mode:
Enables the distance measurement function.
The function is based on the fact that radio waves travel at approximately the speed of light. By measuring the transmission time between the air unit and receiver unit, the system can estimate the distance between the devices. The measurement error is approximately 100 m. - 3 - Signal Loss:
Available options are Warning, Buzzer, and Off.
Warning is enabled by default. When the signal becomes weak, the border around the screen flashes red to warn the user that the signal is low and the Drone should return immediately.
When Buzzer is selected, the buzzer also sounds while the red warning border is flashing. - 4 - Factory Reset:
Resets the receiver unit to factory settings.
If the FCC radio standard has been enabled, it will also be reset and the system will return to the default CE radio standard.
All previously connected air unit records will be deleted. The same air unit must be Bound again before it can reconnect. - 5 - Reset Air Unit Defaults:
Resets the air unit camera settings to their default values without resetting the Bind status. - 6 - Device Information:
Displays the hardware and firmware versions of the current device. - 7 - Operation Instructions:
As shown above
Select this option to view an introduction to the components and controls of the current device. - 8 - Receiver Unit Recording Bitrate:
Sets the recording bitrate of the receiver unit. The maximum bitrate is 50 Mbps. - 9 - Anti-Flicker:
This option currently has no function. - 10 - VRX UART:
Used for passthrough and telemetry functions with the Ascent VRX system.

This option currently has no function. - 12 - UVC:
Allows supported VRX devices to output video through USB. This function is only supported by theAscent VRX PRO.

¶ System Menu - Settings - Battery Warning
- 1 - Buzzer Warning:
Enables or disables the low-battery buzzer warning. - 2 - Cell Count:
The Ascent system uses LiPo batteries as the default battery model and auto estimates the battery cell count based on a per-cell voltage range of 3.4–4.2 V.
For example, when a 12 V power supply is connected, the system determines that 12 V falls within the 10.2–12.6 V range of a 3S battery and therefore identifies the connected battery as a 3S LiPo. When the voltage drops to 10.2 V, the system triggers a low-voltage warning.
However, when a 5S battery is connected, a low-voltage warning may be triggered because the 5S voltage range overlaps with the 6S detection range. For this reason, the system does not auto calculate a 5S battery range by default.
In this case, manually set the cell count to 5S. - 3 - Per-Cell Warning Voltage:
This option can only be adjusted after the cell count has been manually selected. It is intended to support different battery types.
The system uses LiPo batteries as the default model, with a per-cell voltage range of 3.4–4.2 V. The warning voltage can be manually adjusted for other battery types such as LiFe and Li-Ion.
¶ System Menu - Playback

- Move the selection cursor to the OSD option to enable or disable OSD display. When enabled, flight controller OSD information (if available) and main-interface flight information are overlaid during video playback. When the selection cursor is positioned in the video list, press and hold the VRX Confirm button to enter multi-select mode. The menu then displays Delete, Select All, and Cancel options. Press the Back button again to exit multi-select mode.

- During playback, press the middle button once to pause or resume playback. Use the left and right directional buttons to rewind or fast-forward.
